Coping With Fertility Issues Using Reflexology

For some women, having children is something that just happens. For others, the road to a healthy conception could be plagued with fertility issues. If a couple is struggling to fall pregnant, they may visit their GP and then undergo a variety of tests. However it can take on average 7 and half years to receive a diagnosis in the UK. This means the time taken for a suitable treatment to be suggested could be significant. The inability to successfully fall pregnant can put pressure on couples whilst causing disappointment, frustration and heartache. Taking a holistic approach with Fertility Reflexology could help result in a healthy reproductive system – the first stage in trying to ensure pregnancy success. Understanding the type of fertility issue you’re experiencing is key when deciding on treatment type. We’re going to look at some conditions that could be at play in this blog – for a comprehensive list please get in touch.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is arguably one of the most well-known and common fertility issues. It affects 5-10% of all women in the UK of reproductive age and can be a reason for subfertility in 20-25% of women.

Endometriosis is characterised by heavy and often painful periods. It is also attributed in some cases to infertility. The cause is due to endometrial tissue (tissue from the uterus) passing through the reproductive system into the abdominal region. Endometriosis may be due to genetics or as a result of a hysterectomy.  This condition is currently very topical, with MPs launching an investigation into this condition that can be extremely painful for the sufferer.

Abnormal bleeds

The frequency and type of bleeding a woman experiences during her period could be a sign of a fertility issue. Women may have long and/or heavy bleeding, otherwise known as menorrhagia. Menstrual cycles with atypical gaps between them could also hinder the chance of pregnancy success. Polymenorrhoea relates to bleeding with gaps of less than 21 days, whilst oligomenorrhoea to gaps of more than 35 days. Women may also experience an absence of periods (amenorrhoea) or bleeding in between the menstrual cycle (Inter-Menstrual bleeding/Post-Coital Bleeding) with the latter potentially indicative of disease. Finally, women may experience painful periods and believe this is ‘just their lot’. However, dysmenorrhoea is a bona fide condition that affects up to 50% of women in the UK. The causes for all these issues are wide ranging and can all contribute towards problems with becoming pregnant.

Fertility Reflexology

Dealing with fertility issues can be both mentally and physically draining. Fertility Reflexology is a natural therapy which corresponds with reflex points on the feet. Reflexology is a therapy suitable for people of all ages and is both natural and safe. It works via application of gentle pressure to feet reflex points. These correspond to different areas of the body – including the reproductive system. This therapy can affect the hormone balance, and help with treating the condition too.
